The Prisoner Wine Dinner

Wine Spectator’s Grand Tour Las Vegas

Wine Spectator’s Grand Tour Las Vegas is the event of the year for those who love wine. This year’s extravaganza returns to Resorts World on the evening of May 4.

Walk into any restaurant of distinction and look at its wall of awards and honors. Frequently, the most prominent award displayed for bragging rights is the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator. For wineries throughout the world, a 90-plus score and an invite to showcase your best wines at the Wine Spectator Grand Tour is an even more elusive and distinct honor.

Some winemakers and representatives dress in full costume, while others are in their best suits and formal wear (and a few without time for formality wear jeans and a flannel). Some wineries have been making wine for over 100 years while others at the Grand Tour are enjoying their first highly-rated harvest. Over 200 wines in total will be available for tasting. What all of them have in common is an expertise in and dedication to the craft of winemaking that allows them to show off their wines in any fashion they choose and engage with guests who are nothing short of fanatical in their appreciation of the wines.

Some especially well-scoring selections that will be available this year are:

Château de Nalys Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2019 (95)

HALL Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Kathryn Hall 2016 (96)

Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino 2004 (95)

Wine & Soul Douro Quinta da Manoella Vinhas Velhas 2020 (96)

Wineries from all over the world will be represented–including wines from lesser-recognized regions such as Uruguay, Israel and Austria–providing an amazing opportunity to taste wines you may never have an opportunity to taste elsewhere in Nevada or even the United States.

Included in the $275 general admission is a buffet with selections to complement whichever wines you’re tasting and a souvenir Riedel wine glass. Upgraded VIP tickets are also available and allow early admission to have a more intimate experience before the rush.

The 2024 Wine Spectator Grand Tour will be held at Resorts World. The event runs from 7 to 10 p.m. with VIP ticket-holders being allowed entry at 6 p.m. A portion of net proceeds from the event benefits the Wine Spectator Scholarship Foundation, which provides grants and scholarships to a variety of wine-related and culinary programs.
