As part of the program, students learn how to grow vegetables from seeds, run their businesses and create a school garden-based business plan. The City of Las Vegas invites the community to sink their hands in the dirt to plant 24 drought-tolerant shade trees, including Bur Oak, Chinese Pistache and Lacebark Elm varieties this Earth Day at the celebration at Centennial Hills Park. Attendees of this free event on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. can plant trees, clean up the park, enjoy live music and indulge in free snow cones and children’s activities, including face painting, games, a bounce house and craft stations.

The 110,000-sq.-ft. facility offers free tours for all age groups featuring an interactive learning center and a first-hand view of the recycling process.
