Through Dec. 11: Operation Stocking Stuffer

Bring the joy of Christmas to local children in need at Operation Stocking Stuffer. Donate pre-filled stockings for boys and girls aged newborn to 18 years old with a $20 value. Stockings can be filled with toys, books, toiletries, gift cards, games and more. No perishable items. Cash donations are also accepted. Drop off pre-filled stockings, stockings and stocking stuffers at St. Vincent’s Thrift Stores in Reno and Sparks.

Through Dec. 15: Nevada Kids Making Spirits Brighter Donation Drive 

Making Spirits Brighter is the Nevada Kids’ third-annual donation drive. The organization, a local nonprofit that provides essential items and resources to youth in need across Northern Nevada, aims to assemble holiday care packages for over 1,000 children. Participate by personally shopping for donations, adopting from a virtual angel tree or sponsoring a donation drop-off location. Requested donations include clothing, toys, games, art and school supplies.

Nov. 30 to Dec 11.: 25th Annual 98.5 KLUC Toy Drive 

The dedication of Chet Buchanan’s annual toy drive is one to inspire us all this holiday season that we can do more to help bring the magic of the holidays to children and families. During the toy drive at NV Energy in Las Vegas, Buchanan camps atop a 30-ft. scaffold for the duration of the drive. Participants are encouraged to bring new and unwrapped toys and gift cards. Donations are accepted on behalf of HELP of Southern Nevada and benefit local families in need and numerous nonprofits throughout the community.

Dec. 3: Reno Toy Run

The Reno Toy Run, the city’s longest-running and largest motorcycle community event, has been helping Santa every Christmas since 1980. Every year, nearly a thousand bikers participate with the mission to bring hope during the holidays. Tickets are $25 and include a ride, meal and T-shirt. Ticket sales and toy donations benefit local charities including the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, Children’s Cabinet, Eagle Valley Children’s Home, Ronald McDonald House and many more.

Dec. 13 to Dec. 15: Christmas Village & Toy Drive

The Lear Theater in Reno hosts its second-annual Christmas Village & Toy Drive with a family-friendly schedule of events for all to enjoy, including tree lighting with the mayor, live carol singers and free hot chocolate. The event is free to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped present as a toy donation. This year’s goal is 300 toys for children in need in the Reno community.
